American company Powdr has entered the Canadian ski market with the acquisition of Silverstar Mountain Resort near Vernon, British Columbia.
Powdr announced today it has acquired SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon, British Columbia. The Park City, Utah-based company owns 10 resorts thoughout the United States including Killington in Vermont and Mt. Bachelor in Oregon but SilverStar is it’s first Canadian property.
This acquisition brings together two family-owned companies, including POWDR and Jane Cann, who has owned SilverStar since 2002 and served as president since she acquired 100 percent of SilverStar in 2012. Cann will retain Schumann Resorts LTD., which holds 30-acres of SilverStar real estate development land while Powdr has acquired Silver Star Ski Resort LTD. and Silver Star Holidays LTD., which operate SilverStar Mountain Resort.
Of SilverStar, Powdr co-president Justin Sibley says , “The resort team is impressive and they have an incredibly strong relationship with the community, which we hope to build upon. We are pleased to continue Jane and SilverStar’s more than six decades of fun, legacy and vision.”

SilverStar Mountain Resort is located a 20-minute drive from the city of Vernon in British Columbia’s Okanagan region. It offers 3,282 acres of skiable terrain, a 760-meter (2493 feet) vertical drop, and annual snowfall of more than 700cm (23 feet). It’s also a year-round mountain destination ranked by the International Mountain Bike Association as one of the premier downhill mountain bike facilities in North America.
