Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine has joined forces with Broken Hill in Nelson to throw a fundraising party for KERPA on Nov. 30, 2023.
Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine is hosting a fundraiser for the Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association (KERPA) at Broken Hill in Nelson, BC on Thursday November 30 at 7:30 p.m.
The goal of the event is to raise awareness and much-needed funding for the grassroots, volunteer-run organization that supports Dr. Nic Sparrow (seen in the poster below) in delivering critical care at emergency situations in the Kootenay region. KERPA is dispatched alongside BC Ambulance to calls where there is an immediate threat to life. Having a physician and specialized equipment directly on the scene allows for critical pre-hospital care to be delivered to those who are injured. If you live in Nelson, Castlegar, Salmo, or the Slocan Valley, you may have seen KERPA’s orange truck on the road.
KERPA is 100% funded by donations and run by volunteers, including physicians. A second physician is currently being trained and this fundraiser is intended to help raise funds to fully equip a second response vehicle with life-saving medical equipment.
We here at Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine have been moved by the actions of KERPA and are looking to rally our colleagues, advertising partners, contributors, neighbours, and friends to help make a difference. We will be hosting a silent auction at the fundraising event and are suggesting a $10 donation at the door. All funds will go towards KERPA. Below is a list of silent auction items to date:
There will also be new issues of the latest Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine on site that we will be handing out for free.
Doors open at 7:30 pm. See you there.
