Conrad Swetland sets up track-side at Seattle’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross and snapped the action for this exclusive slideshow.
Earlier this spring, Kootenay Mountain Culture and Coast Mountain Culture magazines helped send 18-year-old photographer and dirt biker Conrad Swetland to the Monster Energy AMA Supercross FIM World Championships at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field — also the home of the Seattle Seahawks.
Swetland graduated from Mt Sentinel Secondary in Nelson, British Columbia, last year. His grandfather was a photographer and introduced him to the field. “I’ve been taking photos as long as I can remember,” says Swetland, who’s also an accomplished motocross racer. He started dirt biking at the age of 10 and has competed at tracks in the Kootenays, at the national level, and in the Pacific Northwest Motorcycle Association Hare Scramble series.
Above is a collection of shots from Swetland’s assignment at the Seattle Supercross. While there he also interviewed rookie Michael Mosiman who rides for Rockstar Husqvarna in the 250 Division. Mosiman got a career-best 4th place finish at that event. Here’s his post-race interview.
The race was won by Frenchman and Corona, CA rider Marvin Musquin in a controversial finish. The top eight included second place finisher Ken Roczen, third placer Eli Tomac and from the Husqvarna Factory Team, Dean Wilson (6th) and Zach Osborne (8). For more info visit: results.amasupercross.com.
