Jayme Moye wins bronze for KMC Feature, “Behind the Lines: The Evolution of Ski Traversing in the Kootenays”
The North American Travel Journalists Association just announced the winners of their 32nd annual writing awards, and selected writer, and Senior KMC Correspondent Jayme Moye as the bronze awardee in the category of Sports, Recreation, and Adventure. Moye won for her feature story, “Behind the Lines”, which chronicles the rich history of ski traverses in the Kootenays. The story was published in KMC’s Winter 2022/23 Issue.
From Jayme’s post about the fantastic news: “I wrote this feature for Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine, a beloved regional publication where I live in southeastern British Columbia. I know many of the characters in this story personally, and yet was still starstruck while interviewing them about their epic journeys though our remote mountain ranges. I love the rich history this activity has in the Kootenays. I’m proud to have played a small part in documenting it. Coincidentally, I am in the midst of planning my first ski traverse, for mid-March. It will be a mini, just one night camping, but any ski traverse is an adventure!” On behalf of our entire editorial staff, congratulations Jayme!
