KMC Editor Mitchell Scott has created quite the shitstorm on the mountain biking’s mega site, Pinkbike. In an article entitle “Is the Free Ride Over?” Scott delves into the question of what the word “freeride” means in 2011. Things have changed signficantly over the past decade or so, when freeride originally made its rise to fame as the coolest thing to ever shake the foundations of the gravity mountain bike scene. Sure, Scott may have purposefully pushed some buttons with some serious claims on the state of freeriding today, but it all seems to have kicked the hornets nest on one of the most active action sports websites in the world. So much so, it’s inspired some Kootenay filmmakers to create a striking rebuttal, one that has the online mountain bike communtiy abuzz with debate. Check it out and sound off, everyone else is.
