The year is 1967. A time of peace, love and sexual revolution. It is also the year 22-year-old draft dodger Richard Hayes arrives in Argenta, British Columbia, to discover himself and the Quaker way of life. That’s when things get weird.
Published in KMC’s Summer 2013 “The Home Issue”, Argenta Daze was officially our first illustrated story. Written by Richard Hayes and Chantel Tranchemontagne, who was KMC’s Editor at the time, the story is illustrated by Kootenay-born artist Josh Wapp, who would go on to do numerous illustrations for the magazine, including the much talked about cover of KMC #43, “The Themeless Issue” Summer 2023. You know the one with the bears tranquilizing the human who was gorging on one too many an apple.
