Not sure about you, but in winter we get thirsty for darker, stronger beers. Stoked to see our friends at Tree Brewing are launching a limited run of stout. Anyone get a chance to try it yet?
PRESS RELEASE:
When you call something “old school”, it’s usually because it’s original or a classic. That is exactly why we’ve named this beer Old School Stout, because it’s our interpretation of a classic dry stout.
The word stout originally meant “proud” or “brave” but after the 14th century it took on the connotation of “strong”. While our Old School Stout isn’t exactly strong in alcohol (5.5% ABV), it is very much a rich full bodied Ale dominated by chocolate and roasted malt flavours and very well balanced. Dry stouts achieve a dry-roasted character through the use of roasted barley, just one of the six malts in our Old School Stout recipe. A subtle bitterness leads to a long creamy finish on this aphotic beauty.
