The Clearwater Kayak Festival returns this August 5-7 and new for this year are the downhill SUP races. Gulp.
The Clearwater Kayak Festival has announced its 2022 dates and, like previous years, the winner of the most adventurous paddler will receive a hundred bucks, a case of Busch beer, and a big fat doobie. Held in British Columbia’s Wells Gray Provincial Park, the Clearwater event is the biggest and longest-running Whitewater kayak festival in Western Canada. This year the Festival lands August 5-7.
For the first time the Clearwater is introducing two downriver stand up paddleboard races, one for beginners and one for advanced paddlers. There will also be beginner whitewater kayak courses offered by instructors from Calgary-based Aquabatics as well as beginner whitewater SUP courses with instructors from Prince George-based Born to Board.
The event will be rowdy in and out of the water with four musical acts confirmed for the post-party celebrations.
Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine featured the Clearwater Kayak Festival in its Summer 2021 issue and you can read the entire story via the link here:
